I’m Dr. Kenneth Goldberg, the author of The Homework Trap:
How to Save the Sanity of Parents, Students and Teachers. I am a psychologist with
35 years of experience, but also the parent of a homework trapped child. The
concepts found here are not, to the best of my knowledge, found in any other
book on the market today. There is a vital debate about homework policy in
America, and, in fact, across the world. The debate typically focuses on how
much homework children should do. There are some excellent comments being made
by other authorities and authors like Etta Kralovec, Cathy Vatterott, Sara
Bennett, and Alfie Kohn. I’ve read their positions and many of them have
followed mine (Etta Kralovec, Cathy Vatterott, and Sara Bennett all wrote
pre-publication reviews for my book). They are talking about homework policy as
it applies to all children. I am talking about the homework trapped child. In
the following links, I will offer you a brief explanation of the homework trap,
the model I present in my book, at professional conferences, and at other presentations.
